Some sessions just feel effortless, and Himanvi and Stephen’s engagement session at the Bonneville Salt Flats was exactly that.
These two traveled all the way from Texas to Utah for their engagements, and it could not have been a more perfect choice. The Salt Flats in March are always a bit unpredictable, and this day brought the full experience! Cold air, strong winds, and the kind of dramatic skies that make this location so iconic.
From the moment we started, Himanvi and Stephen were absolute naturals in front of the camera. They are the kind of couple that makes my job so easy. So sweet with each other, effortlessly connected, and genuinely just fun to photograph. Every moment felt real and unforced, which is exactly what you want in an engagement session.
One of my favorite details from their shoot was their all-black outfits. Against the bright, endless white of the Bonneville Salt Flats, it created the most stunning contrast. It gave their photos such a modern, editorial feel while still keeping things timeless and romantic.
Now let’s talk about the weather, because it definitely made an appearance. March at the Salt Flats is no joke. The wind was strong, and the cold hit fast. These two powered through like champs, but after about 30–45 minutes, they were done (and honestly, completely valid 😅).
But here’s the thing… sometimes the shorter sessions end up being the best ones.
We moved quickly, embraced the movement from the wind, and captured so many incredible moments in that short window of time. The wind added such a cinematic feel to their photos! Flowing hair, movement in their outfits, and that raw, adventurous energy you just can’t fake.
As the evening light softened, everything came together so beautifully. The glow, the reflections, the quiet openness of the flats, it created the perfect backdrop for their love.
